Experiential Therapy

Experiential therapy activities provide opportunities for students, therapists, and mentors to interact in a variety of ways outside a typical therapy session. Students participate as a  Discovery Connections community in activities that can include fishing, hiking, swimming, sports and various community activities. As they interact together, mutual respect, trust, and communication grow. Students become less defensive, or closed, to the therapy process. Therapy principles take on a more subtle approach in this “real time” application.

The Discovery Connections difference is illustrated by the fact staff and students work together in very small groups. Whether it’s the ropes course or the climbing wall, students and staff participate side-by-side.
